Nimari Burnett is headed to the Big Ten.

The former Alabama guard committed to Michigan on Thursday morning.

Burnett played 1 season for the Crimson Tide and had a role on Alabama’s 1st No. 1 seed in program history. He played in 27 games, starting 9, and averaged 5.6 points per contest.

Originally from Chicago, Burnett is transferring much closer to home. With Jett Howard expected to depart the program this offseason, Michigan will have plenty of opportunity for a new guard to emerge next season.

Burnett began his career at Texas Tech and was a 4-star prospect in the class of 2020. Michigan will be his 3rd program in 4 seasons. He has 3 years of eligibility remaining.

As for Alabama, the Crimson Tide have continued to recruit well. Alabama has 4 incoming freshmen in the class of 2023 and a top-15 recruiting class, per 247Sports Composite rankings. The Tide have also already secured a commitment from 1 transfer: former Wichita State guard Jaykwon Walker.
