Oakland Raiders running back Josh Jacobs is enjoying a successful rookie campaign, after being drafted 24th overall in the 2019 NFL Draft out of Alabama.

Jacobs was on multiple championship teams at Alabama and split time with other backs such as Bo Scarbrough and Damien Harris throughout his career. Because of the shared responsibilities, Jacobs never surpassed the 640-yard mark in any of his three seasons at Alabama, though he came through in several big moments and his NFL potential was apparent.

The Raiders took notice, and not only did they draft Jacobs in the first round, but they also made him the workhorse running back right off the bat.

Just nine games into his NFL career, Josh Jacobs passed Raider legend Marcus Allen for the most rush yards by a rookie in franchise history. Allen had 697 yards in his rookie season of 1982, but Jacobs has moved past that mark with plenty more games to spare.

Already having rushed for more yards than he did in any season at Alabama, Jacobs is a frontrunner for Offensive Rookie of the Year in the NFL.

Marcus Allen rushed for over 12,000 yards in his 16-year NFL career. For Josh Jacobs, it’s good company to be in.
