Montana Fouts suffered a leg injury about a week ago, and her status ahead of the NCAA Tournament appears uncertain.

What’s understood is that Fouts is trying to bounce back after she hyperextended her left leg in the SEC tournament. She met with Lyle Cain of Birmingham-based Andrew Sports Medicine on Monday, and coach Patrick Murphy also shared Fouts has been working with a physical therapist.

Murphy said Fouts’ injury is a lot better than he thought, but still day-to-day.

“I can’t tell you how much I appreciated everybody’s thoughts, prayers, concerns, the outpouring of people that have asked about her,” Fouts said. “It’s been unbelievable and these 2 will agree with me that it’s been unreal, and what she’s meant to our program, to the sport, I feel that. She’s just a special, special kid and I hope you guys realize what she’s meant to us.”

The injury has shined a light on Fouts’ impact on the program.

“She’s a thoroughbred, and I’ve said it before, she’s our version of Tua (Tagovailoa), I don’t know how else to describe it. She’s just one of those once in a lifetime kids.”
