Paul Finebaum watched along with the rest of the college football world as Alabama QB Bryce Young went down with a shoulder injury at Arkansas on Saturday afternoon and didn’t return.

Early indications are that Young is dealing with a shoulder sprain, but there’s no word yet on how long the reigning Heisman Trophy winner might be out.

Appearing on SportsCenter on Sunday morning, Finebaum weighed in on Young’s injury. While he did express concern about Young potentially missing multiple games, he added that he’s not worried at all about Alabama being able to handle Texas A&M in Week 6:

“Well, it’s pretty high if you go 2 weeks ahead to Tennessee, but let’s be honest, next week against Texas A&M, that’s a cupcake the way things have been going with the Aggies lately,” Finebaum said. “It’s just amazing to think about. That was the game of the year in college football before the season, and now, it’s just really an afterthought.

“I think you have to be concerned. Backup Jalen Milroe looked very good, but Bryce Young is the best quarterback in the country. He does so many things. The disappointing thing for Nick Saban and Bill O’Brien — Alabama’s offense was just started to percolate. Now, they have to shift things for the next couple of weeks. Now, it will be like watching the medical wire in the NFL to see what the deal is with Bryce. His doctors will get a lot of attention this week.”

Milroe led the Alabama offense as it pulled away from Arkansas late on Saturday afternoon. How long will he be in charge moving forward? As Finebaum said, we’ll be watching for updates on Young’s injury intently this coming week.
