Paul Finebaum said before the 2021 season that he thought the Oklahoma Sooners were Alabama’s biggest threat when it comes to repeating as national champions.

However, after 1 week of the season, the SEC Network host has updated his thinking a bit.

While he was still high on the Georgia Bulldogs before the season, he now has them in the No. 1 spot as far as being a threat to Alabama. He also said during his Wednesday appearance on ESPN’s “Get Up” that he’s keeping an eye on Ohio State:

“Yeah, I want to see what happens Saturday night … because if Ohio State looks very good, then I think they moved to the top,” Finebaum said. “I’m still not giving up on Oklahoma. I know they look terrible against Tulane, but I still believe in that program and I think they’ll come back. But ultimately, I think it’s Georgia. Georgia to me looks like the heavyweight that could knock off Alabama, finally. Now, I’ve said that a few times before and been wrong.”

Alabama and Georgia don’t meet this regular season, so a first matchup would theoretically come in the SEC Championship Game. Is that the matchup we’ll see? There’s still a lot of season left to play!
