Marcus Mosher of PFF recently revealed the 10 players he feels are the most underrated in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Making the list are 2 members of the Alabama Crimson Tide: RB Jahmyr Gibbs and S Jordan Battle.

Gibbs had a solid season as the lead back in Tuscaloosa, finishing with 926 rushing yards and 7 TDs. Gibbs averaged 6.1 yards per carry and also led the team with 44 receptions.

Battle has been somewhat overlooked due to his teammate. Fellow Alabama safety Brian Branch is widely considered the best safety prospect in the class. However, Battle had a solid season as well. Battle finished 2022 with 71 tackles, 1 INT, and 2 passes defended.

Speaking on Gibbs, Mosher tabbed his ability to serve in the receiving game and as a dynamic runner:

He’s also a dynamic runner who registered 26 runs 10-plus-yard runs this season (17.2% explosive run rate). With legitimate 4.3-second speed, he’s the type of player every offense wants to add. He might not be taken as high as Robinson, but don’t be surprised if he has a bigger impact immediately, especially in the receiving game.

As for Battle, he graded out well by PFF’s system in coverage while playing extensively for the Alabama defense this past season:

Battle allowed just 136 yards in coverage on 525 snaps this season. In fact, he allowed just 598 yards in coverage in 1,860 coverage snaps during his career at Alabama. However, his 7 total interceptions and 2 combined touchdowns allowed over the last two seasons were even more impressive.

Battle isn’t the most physical run defender, and he’ll miss too many tackles, but for someone who has played nearly 4,000 snaps during his collegiate career, Battle is a starting-caliber safety who could be picked in the middle rounds.

Battle and Gibbs may not be thought of as the top players at their positions, but they could be sneaky good picks for teams. Gibbs is projected to go in the late-1st or 2nd round, while Battle is projected as a mid-round guy.
