Quinnen Williams came to New York with a ton of hype after being selected No. 3 overall in the 2019 NFL Draft. Soon after his arrival, the former Alabama standout made headlines after showing off his infectious personality and providing humorous insight into his life on and off the field.

Now, however, Williams is in the news for the wrong reasons as he was recently arrested at LaGuardia Airport while carrying a handgun. Williams had a permit for the weapon but his permit was from Alabama. New York law lists possession of an unloaded operable handgun as a felony.

Williams was arrested for criminal possession of a weapon. You can read about the incident at NJ.com.

Following Williams’ arrest, his attorney has issued the following statement, which was provided by sports agent Nicole Lynn:

“Mr. Williams respects and follows the law. There was allegedly a technical issue with the manner in which the lawfully owned firearm was stored – and we expect the matter to be resolved shortly.”

The rookie from Alabama appeared in 13 games for the Jets last season, racking up 28 tackles, four tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks with one pass defended and one fumble recovery. Williams started nine games for the Jets.
