Now that Alabama OC Steve Sarkisian has officially left the Crimson Tide (with a championship win under his belt) to take the head coaching job at Texas, he’s working on assembling a staff.

Per ESPN, he plans to bring Alabama OL coach Kyle Flood with him to serve as his offensive coordinator.

That’s a big hire, as Flood’s offensive line was perhaps the best in the nation in 2020, featuring guys like Landon Dickerson, Alex Leatherwood and others who will soon be playing on Sundays.

But, while Flood will presumably have the coordinator title once he arrives in Austin, don’t expect Sark to give up play-calling duties (via HookEm.com):

“I definitely want to be the play-caller. I will be the play-caller,” he said. “I made that mistake one year of my career (in 2015 at USC). It won’t happen again, not in the near future. But the reality of it is, part of the reason Chris and the people at Texas liked me is because of the job I was doing as a play-caller. All of a sudden, why would I relinquish one of the best traits that I have?

“Hopefully, I got a few other ones up there once you get to know me.”

Who will the Crimson Tide hire to replace Flood? Will Sark bring any additional Alabama assistants with him to Austin?

We’ll see what happens as the coaching carousel continues to spin.
