Report: Alabama OC Mike Locksley emerges as favorite to land Power 5 job
The coaching carousel is in full swing, and that means top teams are likely to lose key assistants in the coming days and weeks.
Once again, that means Alabama could be without a top assistant during the College Football Playoff (should the Tide make it there), as OC Mike Locksley is getting a lot of looks.
According to reporter Pete Thamel, Locksley is the favorite to land the head job at Maryland:
Expect Georgia DC Mel Tucker and Alabama OC Mike Locksley to be on the move after the SEC title game. Sources tell @YahooSports that Tucker is the top candidate at Colorado and Locksley has emerged as the favorite at Maryland.

Locksley is from the Washington D.C. area, and was an assistant at Maryland from 2012-15 most recently, serving as interim head coach in 2015.
Now, he’ll be back as the full-time head coach if all goes according to plan. It’ll be interesting to see if he follows in Jeremy Pruitt’s footsteps and remains with the Tide through any postseason action.
