The Cleveland Browns fired offensive coordinator Todd Haley on Monday, and they wasted no time in deciding who would take over the job.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Freddie Kitchens will be promoted to serve as the Browns’ offensive coordinator. Kitchens, who was Cleveland’s running backs coach and associate head coach, is in his first year on the Browns’ staff.

Kitchens was a quarterback at Alabama from 1993-97, and he was the Crimson Tide’s starter in his final two seasons. He passed for 4,668 yards and 30 touchdowns in his career.

After his college career, Kitchens served as an assistant coach in the college ranks. He was an assistant at Mississippi State from 2004-05. He was the tight ends coach for the Dallas Cowboys in 2006 before serving on the Arizona Cardinals’ staff from 2007-17.

This will be the first time in Kitchens’ coaching career that he will serve as offensive coordinator.

The Browns decided to fire Haley after their 2-5-1 start. Cleveland also fired head coach Hue Jackson on Monday. Defensive coordinator Gregg Williams will reportedly serve as interim coach.
