Former Alabama LB Reuben Foster has been in the headlines frequently this offseason for off-the-field legal matters.

While the latest developments in Foster’s domestic violence case look encouraging for the former Alabama linebacker, he’ll still be heading to court next month. NFL.com’s Austin Knoblauch reports that Foster will be returning to Tuscaloosa County (Ala.) on June 20 to appear in court regarding a second-degree misdemeanor charge for possession of marijuana on Jan. 12.

In the domestic violence case, one would assume that Foster’s ex-girlfriend recanting her accusations would lead to a legal win for Foster. A judge will decide on May 23 whether that case will go to trial.

When it comes to NFL discipline, Foster, who plays for the San Francisco 49ers, may not be out of the woods. Knoblauch notes that, “regardless of the outcome of the [pot] case, Foster could be subject to league discipline under the NFL’s substances of abuse policy.”

Foster has yet to take part in the 49ers offseason program and reportedly will not participate in organize team activities (OTAs), which begin Monday.
