Report: U.S. Trademark Office denies Minkah Fitzpatrick's 'FitzMagic' claim
When the 2018 NFL season started, Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Ryan Fitzpatrick led the Bucs to a couple of exciting victories, causing many to dub him “FitzMagic.”
However, former Alabama DB Minkah Fitzpatrick had filed for a trademark of that phrase during his rookie year with the Miami Dolphins.
It took a while, but the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office denied Minkah’s request on Wednesday night, according to reports:
JUST IN: The US Patent & Trademark Office has denied Minkah Fitzpatrick’s trademark filing of “FitzMagic,” saying that the nickname is more connected with Ryan Fitzpatrick and would cause confusion. Decision first reported by @JoshGerben.

It was worth a shot for the former Alabama star, but after the way Ryan Fitzpatrick took the nation by storm, it’s not surprising the office denied the request.
Both of them had interesting seasons, though, so maybe they can settle the “FitzMagic” battle next year.
