Justin Fields has been on quite the tour since decommitting from Penn State in early June. After logging a significant amount of miles on the road in recent weeks, the nation’s top-ranked uncommitted prospect has given no indication thus far which direction he is leaning after backing off from his pledge to the Nittany Lions.

A native of Kennesaw, Georgia, the 6-foot-3, 221-pound Fields is rated as a five-star prospect, the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback and the No. 3 overall prospect in the nation for the 2018 recruiting cycle according to 247Sports Composite Ratings.

Judging by his visit tour, Fields appears open to nearly every elite SEC school that’s in pursuit. First came a visit to in-state school Georgia, followed by trips to Auburn and Florida State, before venturing to Gainesville. Now multiple reports indicate Fields took a visit to Alabama over the weekend. How the trip factors into his recruitment remains to be seen but if the Crimson Tide pull out all the stops, it will be interesting to see if Alabama starts to gain momentum with Fields.

According to both Tim Watts of Bama Online/247Sports and Drew Champlin of AL.com, the top uncommitted prospect in the nation visited Tuscaloosa over the weekend.

Alabama does not have a quarterback committed to its 2018 recruiting class but did sign the nation’s No. 1-ranked dual-threat quarterback in the 2017 cycle in Tua Tagovailoa. Florida and Georgia don’t currently have quarterbacks committed either, while Auburn holds a commitment from Elite 11 Finals participant and four-star prospect Joey Gatewood.

As a high school junior, Fields completed 69 percent of his throws for 2,253 yards and 18 touchdowns. He added another 977 yards and 14 scores with his legs. Check out his junior season highlight reel and you’ll see why he’s so highly coveted by so many elite college football programs.
