Scout.com names 2016 SEC Recruiter of the Year
Alabama’s strong finish led to the top recruiting class in 2016, and one of its key recruiters is being recognized.
On Thursday, Scout.com named its 2016 conference recruiters of the year, and Alabama defensive line coach Bo Davis earned the honor from the SEC.
According to 247Sports, Davis was the primary recruiter for two key defensive tackles, five-star prospect Kendell Jones from Texas and four-star prospect Raekwon Davis, while being the secondary recruiter for four-star DT Quinnen Williams.
Davis was also listed as the main recruiter for five-star inside linebacker Ben Davis, the top player at his position. He was also the leader for a few more four-star prospects: CB Nigel Knott, OT Scott Lashley and QB Jalen Hurts.
LSU’s Bradley Dale-Peveto and Auburn’s Rodney Garner were honorable mentions.
Eh
Right? Should have been Garner. He did sign the unanimous #1 DL class which is Davis’ position. Makes it tough to buy this.
First, almost every recruiter recruits outside of their coaching title. Second, Davis recruited a lot of good players, some of which didn’t truly commit for sure until NSD or right before(Knott), and several of those guys are what put Bama at #1. So I’d say if anyone finished strongest this year, it was Alabama and Bo Davis. He absolutely earned this award.
Now, all that is not to take anything away from Garner. He does an amazing job for y’all and AU should be super happy with the class you got, especially the DL and the WRs.
Still no. Garner killed it dude. Not to dismiss Davis but he faced Garner head to head twice and went 0-2 while Garner also pounded my guy Tracy Rocker head to head.
Nah deacon he made a really good case for Bama. Garner is probably 2 yards behind Davis. If not inches
