The worst possible thing for the Crimson Tide occurred during the opening practice of the spring for Alabama this week as rising sophomore quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered an injury and had to be taken to a nearby hospital.

While that sounds dramatic, Tagovailoa has already returned to the practice field — albeit with a cast on his throwing hand. That’s the good news, as the injury must not be too severe if the team is willing to have him out on the field for some non-contact work.

So what exactly happened to Tagovailoa? According to the father of the Alabama quarterback, his son suffered broken index finger, KHON2 Sports Director Rob DeMello is reporting.

When asked for a comment, Tagovailoa’s father Galu had this to say:

“I asked how his hand was, and he said God is good and that the Holy Spirit is healing his hand.”

Considering he’s back on the field in a limited capacity, it appears the healing process is going well, and Tua won’t be held out of any meaningful action due to this minor injury.
