Good news for the Tagovailoa family and Mike Locksley’s Maryland program as Taulia Tagovailoa has been granted his immediate eligibility for the coming football season.

The younger Tagovailoa left Tuscaloosa this summer for Maryland following his brother’s early departure from Alabama as Tua declared early for the 2020 NFL Draft.

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN was the first to report the news of Tagovailoa gaining his immediate eligibility at Maryland.

“Taulia Tagovailoa’s transfer waiver has been approved by the NCAA and the former Alabama QB is immediately eligible to play at Maryland, per source. Attorney John Long handled family’s case over last three months, and Maryland coach Mike Locksley was notified of the news today,” Fowler posted on Twitter.

Last season, Taulia appeared in three games for the Crimson Tide, completing nine of 12 passes for 100 yards and a touchdown.
