Last Saturday evening, a 24-year old Tuscaloosa woman called local police to report that a dispute between she and former Alabama defensive tackle Jonathan Taylor had escalated from verbal to physical.

Police arrived at her residence to find she’d injured her neck and that a hole had been punched through her closet door. Taylor was arrested on multiple counts of domestic violence, and one day later he was dismissed from the Alabama football team.

However, on Monday, just two days after Taylor’s arrest, the victim contacted authorities to recant her previous statements, according to a press release from Tuscaloosa police that can be seen below.

The victim maintained that Taylor did not cause her any harm during an interview with authorities on Tuesday, and as a result she was jailed and charged with false reporting to law enforcement. She has since been released from county jail on bond.

The charges against Taylor will reportedly be reviewed at a later date.
