Todd Grantham is reportedly considering an offer to join a prominent staff in the SEC.

Grantham, most recently Florida’s defensive coordinator, but who also held a similar position at Georgia, Louisville and Mississippi State could join Alaama’s staff, sources told FootballScoop.

Grantham, who was fired last fall at Florida prior to Dan Mullen’s ouster from the Gators’ program, has engaged in discussions to join Nick Saban’s staff, sources with direct knowledge indicated. Grantham has fielded multiple offers over the past month; but sources tell FootballScoop the potential to work with Saban is likely to win out.

Grantham and offensive line coach John Hevesy were let go after growing criticism of their units as Dan Mullen also faced pressure down the stretch before he was eventually fired, too.

Mullen faced questions about Grantham’s future after the 2020 season when Florida struggled on defense. That season they finished eighth in the SEC in scoring defense (30.8 points per game). They gave up 321 rushing yards earlier last season to LSU in a 49-42 loss, and allowed a total of 798 rushing yards in their 3 losses leading up to Grantham’s ouster.

Grantham’s potential role with the Tide is to be determined; throughout his career he’s worked closely with both the defensive line and linebackers’ position groups, FootballScoop noted.

Alabama and Saban earlier this offseason began to fortify their defensive staff after separating with Jay Valai and welcoming in former South Carolina defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson, most recently at Miami.
