The Alabama Crimson Tide are busy this spring trying to sort out who will be the starting quarterback this fall. Coach Nick Saban has two very good options in Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovalioa, the latter providing the heroics in this year’s National Championship Game.

A starter is unlikely to be named this spring, but that hasn’t stopped people from weighing in on who they think should take first-team reps for the Tide.

On Wednesday, former Auburn coach and current SEC Network analyst Tommy Tuberville weighed in on the QB debate, saying on WJOX’s “3 Man Front” that he thinks Hurts should get the job:

“Jalen Hurts has to be the starting quarterback right now,” Tuberville said. “The guy has won tons of games. Now, he got into the National Championship Game, and he couldn’t complete a pass. They had them all on the line of scrimmage, and his passing has got to get better.

“Jalen Hurts, the ball is going to be in his court. He’s got to be able to throw the ball better. I think he’s a great leader. He understands how to win. I think he can run the offense. I don’t think it was very complex last year. … I think Jalen Hurts will be the quarterback going in to the fall.”

Tagovailoa had a great scrimmage on Saturday, but the battle is still going on and will continue through the spring game in a couple of weeks.

From there, we’ll have to wait until summer to find out who the Tide choose as their starter for the 2018 season.
