The injury to Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is the talk of college football after Week 8.

The Crimson Tide beat the Tennessee Volunteers 35-13 Saturday night, but Tagovailoa left the game in the second quarter and didn’t return. At one point, Tagovailoa left Bryant-Denny Stadium in an ambulance only to return to celebrate with his teammates in the locker room after the game.

Following the win over Tennessee, Nick Saban said that his quarterback suffered a high-ankle sprain and that he would be out a week or two.

By all indications, it’s basically the same injury (not the same ankle) that Tagovailoa suffered last season in the SEC Championship Game. Jalen Hurts played hero in the win over Georgia, but Tagovailoa returned for the Oklahoma game in the College Football Playoff.

So, how concerning is Tagovailoa’s injury for Alabama? Paul Finebaum joined SportsCenter Sunday morning to discuss.

“I would have a high level of concern,” Finebaum said. “This is what happened last year. The season (last year), I wouldn’t say began to unfold because Alabama was undefeated in the national championship, but it definitely hurt Alabama. Tua was never the same. Remember, he came back for the Oklahoma game and looked good, but not good against Clemson.”

Alabama plays Arkansas Saturday, and Tagovailoa will likely miss that game. Then, the Tide have a bye week before facing LSU on November 9.
