Tua Tagovailoa was carted to the locker room during the first quarter of the Miami Dolphins’ game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. And shortly after, the Dolphins provided an update.

The team announced that Tagovailoa suffered a rib injury and is questionable to return. It appeared that the former Alabama QB got hurt on a 4th-and-2 incomplete pass on which he took a hard hit and fell to the ground.

Tagovailoa walked off the field to Miami’s sideline following the play, but he was carted away shortly after.

It’s a tough break for Tagovailoa, who had led the Dolphins to a Week 1 win over the New England Patriots by passing for 202 yards and a touchdown while also adding a rushing score. He was 1-for-4 for 13 yards on Sunday before getting replaced by Jacoby Brissett.

If Tagovailoa doesn’t return, this could be an injury situation to continue to monitor moving forward.
