Completing more than 75 percent of his passes is just one of the eye-popping numbers for Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa in a season that’s increasingly difficult to process from a statistical perspective.

That completion percent is tied for first in the country with Colorado’s Steven Montez. He’s also first in yards per attempt (14.8), and has an amazing 19.7 yards per completion.

Tagovailoa, a frontrunner to win the Heisman Trophy, has 20 touchdowns overall without a turnover, and has almost as many touchdowns (20) as incomplete passes (25). Tagovailoa is one of just eight quarterbacks without an interception, but his 101 pass attempts are 34 more than the next closest QB.

Baker Mayfield holds the single-season passer efficiency rating record with a rating of 198.7, AL.com reported, but Tagovailoa’s current passer efficiency rating is 258.7. Tagovailoa has had a passer efficiency rating of 224.3 or better in each of the Crimson Tide’s six games, including a rating of 316.9 against Louisiana Sept. 29 and 394.3 against Arkansas.

Perhaps most impressive, and what has drawn some criticism about his potential Heisman campaign, is that Tagovailoa has only been on the field for about eight quarters in Alabama’s three SEC games. In those eight quarters, Tagovailoa is 43-for-58 for 912 yards with 10 passing touchdowns, one rushing score, no turnovers and a passer efficiency rating of 263.1.
