Tyler Buchner made things official with Alabama on Thursday. The former Notre Dame QB is following his old OC Tommy Rees to Tuscaloosa.

Fans and media alike reacted to the news accordingly on social media.

Buchner will be joining a QB room with the likes of Jalen Milroe and Ty Simpson now that Bryce Young has graduated. It’ll definitely be interesting to see who the starting QB will be this upcoming season.

Buchner played in just three games for the Fighting Irish in 2022. Buchner missed the majority of the season after suffering a shoulder injury in the fourth quarter of the Marshall game. Notre Dame lost to Marshall by a score of 26-21.

Luckily for the Fighting Irish, Buchner was able to play in the team’s bowl game against South Carolina on Dec. 30. Notre Dame beat South Carolina 45-38 in the Gator Bowl. Buchner threw for 273 yards passing with 5 total touchdowns and 3 interceptions.

In the three games Buchner played in, he accounted for 7 total touchdowns and 5 interceptions.

The news drew a lot of different reactions. Some Alabama fans welcomed Buchner with open arms while fans of other teams predicted the Crimson Tide would have three or four losses in 2023.

Only time will tell if this was the right move. Rees will now coach a player that he is familiar with in Tuscaloosa.

Here are some of the reactions to Buchner’s transfer decision:
