The Alabama Crimson Tide won the National Championship Game on Monday night in thrilling fashion, beating Georgia in overtime.

It was Nick Saban’s fifth championship with Alabama and his sixth overall, cementing him as perhaps the greatest coach in the history of college football.

With a freshman quarterback in Tua Tagovailoa leading the Crimson Tide to the victory, FOX Sports host Colin Cowherd thinks it was Saban’s finest moment as a coach, as you can see in the clip below:

“Nick Saban put on a clinic in how to adjust,” he said. “Last night was a clinic. There were so many things that went wrong for Alabama last night. First of all, the game was in Atlanta. The crowd was 70-30 Georgia. It was a little bit like a neutral field/road game. That wasn’t ideal. Number two, they fall behind 13-0 with a quarterback that’s not really a vertical passing threat.

“The third thing that went wrong — they missed a couple of field goals. … Number four, they had a review go against them on the sideline. … That could have easily gone Alabama’s way.”

After listing a couple of more, including Tagovailoa’s sack, the fight on the sideline and the player collapsing on the sideline, Cowherd praises the job Saban did.

“He was coaching his butt off last night,” he said. “He had eight things that didn’t go his way. … I thought it was his best coaching effort of all-time.”

It was a thrilling game, but Saban and the Tide were the ultimate victors, in large part because of the coach’s ability to get his team to overcome adversity.
