Alabama running back Damien Harris joined The Paul Finebaum Show on Thursday to preview the Crimson Tide’s upcoming College Football Playoff semifinal game against Clemson.

The SEC Network hosts, Finebaum and Laura Rutledge, asked Harris how he felt about Alabama getting some extra time off before facing the Tigers for the third consecutive season.

“I think the time off will benefit us,” he said. “We’ve had some guys banged up. I think it will be good for those guys to have that rest and time off, and have time to get treatment … We’re looking to play our best football.”

Harris spoke about the Tide’s depth and said it was beneficial to have a stable of backs for a game like this. He also noted how good Clemson is.

“This is a great opponent, an opponent we’ve faced the past two years,” Harris said. “Two great games … We will have to prepare our best, and play our best football. We know it is going to be another good game, another close game.

“We’re definitely looking to avenge our loss from last year. It was a tough loss. It’s almost like they’ve become our rivals.”

Harris said he and the team’s primary focus is getting ready for Clemson, but noted that Alabama will have some time off for Christmas.

“We’re not really worried about Christmas shopping,” he said. “We’re worried about doing all the little things we need to do help us become the best we can be come Jan. 1.

“We do get a little time off — two or three days to see the family for Christmas.”

Harris also told a funny story about watching the playoff selection show at a friend’s apartment.

“We watched the selection show on the internet, on the ESPN app,” he said. “Right before they announced the No. 4 team, it froze. It shut down. But we heard people (Alabama fans) next door cheering.

“We didn’t really see it, but we knew that we got in based on everybody else’s reaction.”
