The Alabama Crimson Tide are dealing with an injury to star QB Tua Tagovailoa, though coach Nick Saban insists his knee is fine.

In fact, he’s gotten testy this week when asked if the Tide would rest Tagovailoa against The Citadel, ranting about not taking suggestions from reporters.

On Tuesday, former Vanderbilt QB and current SEC Network analyst Jordan Rodgers appeared on “The Paul Finebaum Show” and said he thinks it’s crazy that the Tide wouldn’t sit Tagovailoa against The Citadel:

“There were a couple of times when Tua took a long five or 10 seconds to get up off the ground,” Rodgers said. “The first time he got that knee hit, the very next play, he threw an interception. Very unlike Tua — just didn’t see the defender and didn’t have the same zip on the ball. …

“There’s no benefit to have him on the field. He’s not going to learn anything, he’s not going to fix any of those issues against Mississippi State against The Citadel. He’s not going to get those same looks. … This team is going to live and die with Tua, and if he’s hurt, it’s a new ballgame for the College Football Playoff, for the SEC Championship. There’s no reason he should be playing.”

The Tide have a couple more days to change their plans, but for now, it appears Tagovailoa will get at least a little bit of action on Saturday.
