Playing for Nick Saban isn’t easy, as the legendary Alabama coach demands nothing but excellence from his players on and off the field.

Still, the nation’s top talent continue to flock to Tuscaloosa, because they know Saban’s Crimson Tide squads will compete for SEC and national titles, and several Alabama players each year are high NFL Draft picks.

One of the most-recent players to make the transition from Alabama star to first-round draft pick is LB Rashaan Evans, who the Tennessee Titans took with the No. 22 overall pick. As you can see in the video below, Evans joined “The Jim Rome Show” and credited Saban with helping him mature into the player he is today:

“Coach Saban, I feel like he and I were really in the transition of really learning from each other,” he said. “Coach Saban is a very-structured guy — he wants things a certain way. I was a guy who was really creative and wanted to do things my way. But as I’ve gotten older and understanding him, I truly implemented his ways and his coaching into my lifestyle. It changed everything. I feel like to be able to be under a guy like that, it does wonders to a guy’s life.

“To be able to grow up and understand the meaning of paying attention to detail and doing all the right things when nobody else is looking. Just doing those little things like that, I feel like that is something that I implemented into my life, not just in football, but outside of football.”

Evans thrived in his time with the Tide, recording 150 tackles and 15 sacks in four years. He also won two national championships.

Now, he’ll try to take the success he had at Alabama and bring it to the Titans’ locker room this fall.
