Alabama torched South Carolina Saturday 47-23.

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa had a career day, too. The Tide signal caller set a career high with 444 passing yards and five touchdowns. He broke an Alabama program record for four-plus passing touchdowns in a game. He’s now done that eight times in his career.

He spoke to the media after the game about his record day.

“I think it really starts with our coaching and our guys up front,” Tagovailoa said. “Everyone I’m surrounded with. Those are the guys that make plays. Those are the guys that make me look good. If we just stick to what coach tells us, I feel like things like this can happen.”

It’s a good thing Alabama has Tagovailoa, too, because the running game is struggling. Alabama rushed for just 76 yards against South Carolina. Granted, the Tide didn’t need to, but when Alabama faces better defenses, it’s going to have to run the football.

Tagovailoa completed eight passes for DeVonta Smith for 136 yards and two touchdowns. He also hit Henry Ruggs six times for 122 yards and one touchdown. He also connected with Najee Harris on two touchdowns.
