The Arkansas Razorbacks struggled their way to a sub-.500 record in 2017, costing coach Bret Bielema his job.

Now, under new coach Chad Morris, the Hogs are trying to quickly rebuild, and that will involve improving in all three phases of the game.

On Monday, the Hogs added a punter, Matthew Phillips out of Tennessee, to their 2018 recruiting class. Phillips announced his decision in the tweet below:

Phillips is unranked by 247Sports, and it appears he didn’t have an offer from the Hogs, so he’ll likely join the program as a walk-on.

Starting punter Blake Johnson will be a redshirt junior next year, but having depth on special teams is never a bad idea. Phillips will compete for the starting job this summer and fall.
