Arkansas is currently projected to have 2 lottery picks in the 2023 NBA Draft.

Both Anthony Black and Nick Smith Jr. made it into the top 14 of ESPN’s updated mock draft on Tuesday night. Draft expert Jonathan Givony updated his mock following the completion of the draft lottery.

Black is the first Razorback projected to go off the board at No. 8 overall to the Washington Wizards. Here’s Givony’s analysis on Black’s fit in Washington:

The Wizards are at an inflection point after a change in leadership in the front office and will likely need to find a head decision-maker over the next few weeks. Point guard has been a position of need for the Wizards for some time, and they could very well be attracted to the defensive versatility and feel for the game Black brings, as well as his ability to play any of the backcourt positions thanks to his terrific size.

Smith is also a potential lottery pick despite an up-and-down freshman season in Fayetteville. He landed at No. 13 in Givony’s mock, with the Toronto Raptors as the projected destination.

Here’s Givony on Smith’s fit with the Raptors:

The Raptors were one of the worst perimeter shooting teams in the NBA this season, and could see their two most prolific 3-point shooters, Fred VanVleet and Gary Trent Jr., depart in free agency this summer. Smith’s ability to shoot off the bounce, pass off a live dribble, finish with creativity around the rim and bring strong competitiveness defensively gives him plenty of upside to grow into despite the inconsistent, injury-plagued freshman season he endured at Arkansas.

The last time Arkansas had multiple players selected in the 1st round of the same NBA Draft was in 1992 when Todd Day, Oliver Miller and Lee Mayberry all went in Round 1.

The 2023 NBA Draft will be held on June 22.
