Days after several national publications lauded Arkansas coach Bret Bielema for the culture of discipline and accountability he’s instituted, police found his freshman punter in an unfortunate state early Saturday morning.

According to multiple news reports, Blake Johnson was arrested for public intoxication, minor in possession and disorderly conduct.

Citing a police report, 5NewsOnline.com has relayed that police found Johnson urinating on a light pole at 1:39 a.m. CT. Asked what he was doing, Johnson replied that he was urinating because “I needed to go.” Asked where he came from earlier in the evening, Johnson twice answered Riverside, Calif.

Johnson is a California native, but according to Google Maps, that city is about a 22-hour drive from Fayetteville.

According to 5NewsOnline.com:

“The report states the officer noticed a strong odor of intoxicants coming from Johnson, and his eyes were bloodshot and watery, his balance was swaying as he talked.”

This isn’t the first time Johnson has found himself in trouble, though it’s more serious. He had to carry a mattress to the practice field after showing up late.

The arrest came hours after the Razorback Football Kickoff Dinner. Bielema told reporters that he hoped the players would use the night off  “wisely.”
