Captain comeback did it again last weekend, as first-year starting quarterback Austin Allen calmly drove Arkansas the length of the field to score the game-tying touchdown and two-point conversion Saturday night. The drive took place in the closing minute of regulation on the road against TCU, no less.

The drive against TCU was the second clutch fourth quarter drive of the season in as many games for Allen – Arkansas also needed a late touchdown drive to beat Louisiana Tech by one in the season opener. According to head coach Bret Bielema, the two-minute situation is something the team always simulates at the end of practice, in order to prepare for the fatigue of an actual game.

Just before the Arkansas offense took the field for its final drive in regulation, Bielema spoke to Allen and reminded him of all the preparation the team had put in for that very situation. According to the Hogs’ coach, Allen smiled and told him to relax.

“(Allen) said to me, ‘Hey, I got this coach.’ And I said to myself, that bro don’t have no problems right now,” Bielema said during his Monday press conference.

The confidence the junior quarterback showed his coach was evident on the field after that, as Allen accounted for all three of Arkansas’ touchdowns following the exchange.
