Bill Self will miss another contest as defending national champion Kansas will be without its head coach for the Round of 32 contest vs. Arkansas.

With the 60-year-old Self sidelined the past 4 games after undergoing a heart catheterization and two stents, assistant coach Norm Roberts has assumed control of the Jayhawks.

No. 1 seed Kansas defeated No. 16 seed Howard 96-68 in the Round of 64. Forward Jalen Wilson finished with 20 points and seven rebounds. Freshman guard Gradey Dick amassed a double-double with 19 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Kansas held Howard to 38.8 percent shooting overall and 31.3 percent from the 3-point line. Kansas also forced 18 turnovers.

Kansas is rallying for Self and around Roberts, whom the players have the utmost faith in.

“It’s no drop-off,” Kansas guard Kevin McCullar Jr. said via ESPN. “Coach [Roberts] knows what he’s doing and he’s a mirror image of Coach Self. He gets us the game plan and we go out there and execute. I would say it’s his passion and his will to win and wanting to win, how competitive he is. His pregame speeches get you pretty pumped up. You want to go out there and run through a brick wall sometimes.”

No. 8 seed Arkansas beat No. 9 Illinois 73-63 in the Round of 64 behind a double-double from guard Ricky Council IV (18 points, 10 rebounds). Kansas-Arkansas is slated to tip off on Saturday at 5:15 p.m. ET and will be televised on CBS.
