In Week 6, Arkansas had a massive opportunity when it hosted No. 1 Alabama.

A win in this contest would signal Bret Bielema’s team is for real when it came to a national perspective. In addition, it would’ve enhanced the Razorbacks’ chances at potentially winning the SEC West.

However, it wasn’t meant to be — as the Crimson Tide soundly defeated Arkansas by a score of 49-30.

The SEC is traditionally the deepest and most talent-laden conference in the country. Save for one or two games a year, there aren’t any “reprieves” in conference play.

As such, SEC programs will be tested week in and week out. There’s truly no time for a lapse.

Bielema appeared Tuesday on SiriusXM College Sports for an interview. It would’ve been easy for his team to take a nosedive after the Alabama loss. Instead, it bounced back and defeated a very talented Ole Miss team this past weekend by a score of 34-30.

He spoke about the resiliency of his team at length:

“That’s life in the SEC West. We always tell our kids, you have to be happy with the home you live in and we live in the SEC West. Our home is different than anyone’s in this division but at the same time you’re in the neighborhood so you better be ready to play some damn ball.

It does help you get ready week in and week out. Last week we were not feeling great after that Alabama (loss)… I got a flag in that game (15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty for arguing with an official) because I knew we could win that game. It got frustrating, the things that happened and Sunday was not a good day, Monday was not a good day, Tuesday was a little better but if we felt on Wednesday that we needed to go back and relieve that Alabama game, we weren’t going to have a chance against Ole Miss. So you turn the page and move forward.”
