Things didn’t work out for Bret Bielema at Arkansas but the same could not be said for his successful run at Wisconsin from 2006 until 2013, where the former Badgers coach led the program to a 68-24 overall record and three Big Ten titles.

While the SEC West may have proven to be too much for Bielema to handle, he led Arkansas to a 29-34 overall record during his five years with the program, the former Razorback coach appears to be trying to land an interview at Michigan State following the sudden resignation of former Spartan coach Mark Dantonio.

After spending a few seasons in New England as a member of Bill Belichick’s coaching staff, Bielema landed a new role on the New York Giants coaching staff under coach Joe Judge. However, despite recently landing a new NFL opportunity, Bielema has “definite interest” in the Michigan State job according to Rainer Sabin of the Detroit Free Press.

In addition to his history as a coach in the Big Ten, Bielema also played in the league as he is a graduate of Iowa.

If you missed the news, following Dantonio’s resignation, Michigan State set its sights on landing Cincinnati coach Luke Fickell to be the new Spartan coach but the Bearcat coach announced on Monday that he will be staying in Cincinnati.
