Improvement is on the mind of Arkansas coach Bret Bielema after the ugly Week 2 loss to TCU.

Bielema met with members of the media Wednesday afternoon to address the Arkansas football team in the current state. One of the first things Bielema addressed was the wide receivers and Jared Cornelius’ health concerns after missing offseason practice with a back injury.

“Jared Cornelius now cleared for practice today and is intent on doing that,” Bielema said. “He, Jordan Jones, Jonathan Nance and Deon Stewart are working with the ones.”

The Arkansas coach wasn’t pleased with a number of touches freshman phenom Chase Hayden received versus the Horned Frogs. Moving on, he wants that to change.

“I don’t like the fact Chase Hayden only got 2 carries,” he said. “As the game unfolded, I’m surprised he wasn’t in there more.”

Bielema also addressed the elephant in the room, which has been Arkansas kicking game. He was asked about Cole Hedlund and who is going to handle the kicking duties moving forward.

“If we did a field goal right now, it would be whoever does the best the next 2 weeks,” he said. “There has been no bigger supporter of Cole Hedlund over the last three years than me.”
