Arkansas has a long history of producing solid tight ends but the one with the most touchdowns in school history won’t even have the opportunity to finish out his playing career on the field.

Chad Morris announced on Monday that C.J. O’Grady has left the program. This news comes after O’Grady was suspended for Arkansas’ 54-24 loss to Mississippi State last weekend.

According to Morris, the two met on Sunday and O’Grady and his family decided it was best to “step away” from the Razorback program.

Many saw this move coming following O’Grady’s suspension over the weekend and the following cryptic tweet sent by the Razorback tight end on Friday:

“Beyond blessed to say I had the privilege and opportunity to be a Razorback. I was actually given the chance to live my dream and I will forever be thankful for it.”

Not only was O’Grady the most productive tight end in Arkansas history, at least in terms of finding the end zone, but he was the team’s leading receiver this season with 33 receptions for 373 yards and three touchdowns.

During his career, O’Grady racked up 87 catches with 967 yards and 12 touchdowns.
