After inheriting a roster that lacks overall depth in terms of elite veteran contributors, the last thing Arkansas coach Chad Morris wanted to deal with heading into fall camp was injuries. Be that as it may, the Razorback coach announced on Monday that three of his players will be sidelined heading into the team’s fall camp.

During his Monday media availability, Morris revealed that junior offensive lineman Colton Jackson, senior defensive back Kevin Richardson and freshman offensive lineman Ryan Winkel will all be out at the start of fall camp. Making matters worse, Jackson and Richardson will be out once the season rolls around, too.

According to Morris, the team is hopeful Jackson can return by early October: “Back issue, he’ll miss a significant amount of time, maybe the first six games. (Hopeful he can return by) early October.” Jackson started 10 of 12 games for the Razorbacks last season at left tackle.

As for Richardson, he injured himself during a recent move and will be out around six weeks: “Moving into a house and stepped a certain way, hurt his foot. He’ll have surgery today, put a screw in his feet. Out six weeks, he’ll be back for conference play.” Richardson was a team captain last season and started nine games.

Morris offered up these comments on true freshman offensive lineman Ryan Winkel: “He will be back… weight room injury on his shoulder. Went thru surgery but he’s out (indefinitely).”
