Arkansas’ 45-19 home loss to Western Kentucky, a team led by former Razorbacks QB Ty Storey, dropped UA to 4-18 in Chad Morris’ tenure. The second-year coach knew that questions about his job status and future with the program were coming in the postgame press conference.

Morris was asked to make his case that he’s still the guy to lead the turnaround.

“I am the guy,” he said. “There’s no question. I knew this was going to take some time. I knew this was going to be a process of recruiting and developing and building, especially in this conference. I knew the strains that take place weekly in this conference and the depth that it needs to be successful. And right now, we don’t have that. We’ve got to go get that. We’ve got to recruit to it. And we’ve got to continue to develop. Right now, it’s unfortunate that we’re playing as many young guys as we’re playing, but that’s the truth.”

It’s no surprise that Morris is pitching the need to recruit. He signed a 2019 class of 25 commitments which ranked No. 23 in the country on the 247Sports Composite rankings.

At the time of publishing, Arkansas has not announced any change in Morris’ status as the team’s head coach. Obviously, that could change at any moment.
