There is a lot for Arkansas fans to be excited about in 2022.

For one, the Razorbacks return dark horse Heisman candidate KJ Jefferson, who threw for 2,676 yards and 21 touchdowns last season with 664 yards rushing and 6 touchdowns to boot. No big deal.

For another, the offensive line is set to be solid, returning 4 starting lineman from last season’s 9-4 squad.

But according to ESPN’s preseason power rankings, the Razorbacks shouldn’t expect the success they had last season just because of Jefferson’s return. Writer Alex Scarborough detailed Arkansas’ biggest question mark heading into Year 3 under Sam Pittman: How do you replace Treylon Burks.

Ah yes, the Tennessee Titans’ catalyst for trading A.J. Brown who happened to be one of the best receivers in college football last season. Burks accounted for 1,104 of Jefferson’s 2,676 yards passing last year and hauled in 11 touchdowns, catapulting the Razorbacks to a few wins perhaps by himself. Replacing that production is difficult, as if we have to tell you that.

Some answers to Burks’ departure could include transfer receivers Matt Landers and Jadon Haselwood, who combined to snag 11 touchdowns at Toledo and Oklahoma, respectively. Other help at wideout could come from senior Warren Thompson or sophomore Ketron Jackson Jr.
