Report: Former Arkansas assistant Paul Haynes fired from Kent State
It appears a former Razorbacks assistant has been fired at Kent State.
Paul Haynes, who served as the defensive coordinator for Arkansas in 2012, has reportedly been fired after serving as Kent State head coach since 2013. It was Haynes’ first head coaching job at the collegiate level. Doug Samuels with Football Scoop shared the story.
Haynes played DB for the Golden Flashes from 1987-1991 and was previously on the coaching staff at Kent State from 1999-2000. He had stops at Louisville, Michigan State, and Ohio State before his season at Arkansas led to his hiring at Kent State.
Haynes took over a team that went 11-3 in 2012 but could not keep the strong results going. The team went 4-8 in his first season with the team but never reached four wins again.
The Golden Flashes finished this season with a 2-10 record after losing to Akron Tuesday night. Haynes’ career record with the team was 14-45 in five seasons.
