The Arkansas Razorbacks are reportedly headed to a bowl game for the first time since 2016.

According to Fayetteville, Ark., sports talk host Josh Bertaccini, the Razorbacks will face TCU in the Texas Bowl, set for Dec. 31 at NRG Stadium. Stadium’s Brett McMurphy is also the news.

Arkansas finished the season with a 3-7 mark, losing its last 4 games. Under a normal year, it would not be a bowl-eligible team, but the lifting of the usual restrictions coupled with a number of FBS teams opting out of postseason play due to the COVID-19 pandemic means that there are more available slots than usual.

While the Razorbacks could have very well shut it down for the remainder of 2020, they have instead accepted an invitation from the Texas Bowl committee and will play 1 more game.

Meanwhile, the Horned Frogs are 6-4. Gary Patterson’s team is going bowling for the 6th time in 7 seasons after missing out in 2019.

The Texas Bowl is scheduled for 7 pm CT in Houston, with the game to be televised on ESPN.

UPDATE: The SEC has confirmed this news.
