Sam Pittman and Arkansas pulled off one of the biggest wins of the young college football season on Saturday by beating Texas in a rivalry game before a sell-out crowd and stripe out in Fayetteville.

Coach Sam Pittman was a guest on “SEC This Morning” on the SEC Network, and recapped his memories from the Saturday night win.

“Just the passion of the crowd, you look at the faces of the fans and the student section was incredible,” Pittman said. “They came early to the game, they stormed the field, just the passion for the rivalry between Texas and Arkansas. Our kids, we believed we were going to win, we did. So I don’t think our kids were surprised by the outcome. But I think the fans were so excited, it’s what college football is all about in my opinion.”

Pittman admitted that he didn’t get to bed until about 4:30 a.m. on Sunday morning. He said recruits were in for official visits, and Pittman believes you can get as good a college experience at Arkansas as anywhere in the country.

“I believe that, and I think it showed the other day,” Pittman said. “It’s very, very important that we got off to a fast start in recruiting last year and that game Saturday is certainly going to help us in the future.”

Pittman was asked about why he smiles so much, and he said, “I’ll be honest, I’m the head coach at Arkansas, there aren’t many bad days, and I mean that. I’m so honored to be the coach, I really am.”
