Former Arkansas, NFL QB Tarvaris Jackson dies in car accident
Terrible news to share on Monday as former Razorback quarterback Tarvaris Jackson died over the weekend in a car accident. He was 36.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Media was first to report the news.
According to TMZ Sports, Jackson was involved in a single-vehicle crash. Jackson’s vehicle reportedly struck a tree around 9 p.m. on Sunday.
The Montgomery, Ala., native enrolled at Arkansas back in 2001 to start his college career. Unfortunately, his time with the Razorbacks was short as he suffered a season-ending injury before transferring out to Alabama State.
Despite playing the majority of his college football career at the SWAC level, Jackson performed well enough to catch the eye of NFL scouts and was selected in the Second Round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings.
Jackson played five seasons for the Vikings before playing for the Seattle Seahawks and Buffalo Bills during his 10-year NFL career. Jackson last played in the NFL during the 2015 season.
Following the end of his playing career, Jackson landed a coaching position at Tennessee State working with the program’s quarterbacks.
Once word began to spread of Jackson’s untimely passing, many that knew him have expressed their condolences following the tragedy:
