Arkansas picked up its third 2018 commitment in as many days Monday following the pledge of Texas athlete Tanner McCalister. The Razorbacks added running back Jeremy Gibson Sunday and athlete Sean Michael Flanagan Saturday.

The 5-foot-11, 182-pound McCalister is rated as a three-star prospect, the No. 37 cornerback in the nation and the No. 50 overall recruit from Texas according to 247Sports Composite Ratings. It should be noted that Scout rates the Texas native as a four-star prospect. McCalister picked the Razorbacks over offers from Mississippi State, Missouri, Houston, Oklahoma State, TCU, and Washington State among others.

McCalister announced his decision via Twitter:

Signing up to play for noted defensive backs coach and defensive coordinator Paul Rhoads likely served as a motivating factor for McCalister to give his pledge to the Arkansas defense. Following Rhoads’ promotion to defensive coordinator following the 2016 season, the Razorbacks landed two elite defensive back prospects in Chevin Calloway and Montaric Brown. McCalister can soon add his name to that impressive list and develop under one of the game’s best defensive back coaches at Arkansas.

His highlights show his outstanding high school film on both sides of the ball, but considering his size, it appears likely he ends up on the defensive side of the ball when he arrives in Fayetteville.
