Chad Morris is no stranger to major rebuilding prospects. He took SMU from a team that went 2-10 in his first season as head coach in 2015 to a squad that went 7-5 in 2017.

Now that he’s the coach at Arkansas, he faces another tough job, as he tries to make the Razorbacks competitive in the SEC West again.

On Wednesday, Morris spoke with reporters, taking them inside his fast-paced offensive system. One reporter asked how Morris plans to handle the SEC’s tough defenses and whether he envisions any problems with defenses blowing up his plans.

As you can see in the video below, Morris said he believes there’s always an answer for whatever defense is called — it’s just a matter of whether the Hogs can find it in time:

“I think every play has an answer,” he said. “You know what the answer is, but sometimes they have great answers, too. If they’re going to bring this certain pressure, there’s always a weakness somewhere. It’s just, A, do they hide their pressures good enough to where it’s too late to get to your answer — that’s the answer we’ll get to with a lot of our quarterbacks. A lot of it is dictated on how they align their defensive front.”

Morris’s offense will be a lot of fun to watch this fall, but we’ll have to see if he can run it the way he wants to without having his own players in place.
