The Auburn Tigers are 0-2 to start SEC play entering Wednesday night’s game at Ole Miss. It’s hard not to wonder how the Tigers would fare if 5-star freshman Sharife Cooper was eligible.

Instead, Cooper is waiting to hear from the NCAA on his eligibility status, and he has yet to play for Auburn this season.

So, what’s the latest on Cooper’s status? Coach Bruce Pearl says it continues to be a waiting game as Auburn has ongoing discussions with the NCAA (via AL.com):

“We are working on it,” Pearl said Tuesday. “I do appreciate your patience. I hope you appreciate mine. We are meeting about it. We are having discussions with the eligibility center, and we are still hopeful.”

Will we see Cooper this season? Or, will he head off to the pro ranks without ever getting the chance to suit up for the Tigers?

The NCAA is running out of time to make a decision on his eligibility before the season is over.
