Auburn defender, former 4-star prospect, enters NCAA transfer portal
After spending his first two seasons at Auburn as a wide receiver, Matthew Hill moved to cornerback in 2020. Now, he may be leaving for a different program.
According to Christian Clemente of Rivals.com, Hill has entered the NCAA transfer portal. That means the Tigers could soon be losing some depth in their secondary, as he may be heading to a new school to finish his college career.
Hill has appeared in three games for Auburn this season, but he hasn’t recorded any stats. Over his first two seasons, he had four carries for 30 yards and eight receptions for 46 yards.
During the preseason, Hill switched to the defensive side of the ball. And although he hasn’t made a big impact in the secondary, Auburn won’t have quite as much depth if he decides to leave.
Hill was a 4-star recruit in the Tigers’ 2018 recruiting class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings, out of Brookwood High School in Snellville, Ga.
