Smith committed to Tennessee on May 4, 2020, but backed off that pledge last month. Will Friend was Tennessee’s offensive line coach when Smith committed to the Volunteers. After a brief stop at South Carolina earlier this offseason, Friend joined Bryan Harsin’s AU staff.
