Auburn WR Darius Slayton (6-foot-2, 190 pounds) is jealous of fellow Tigers WR Kyle Davis, specifically the extra 23 pounds of bulk Davis carries on his 6-foot-2 frame.

“Have you ever seen him? He’s a big kid,” the smaller wideout told reporters. “I wish I came in looking like that. That’s pretty much it. He’s a big kid.”

Slayton joked that Davis’ freakish size isn’t natural, according to Auburn Undercover’s Michael Niziolek.

“He’s obviously… I call him a mutant,” Slayton said. “But he’s a really good player, too. I think he brings a lot of energy to the table. He’s a very excitable guy. It’s good to have him back out there.”

Slayton and Davis are two of Auburn’s many highly sought-after wideouts signed in the past few recruiting cycles. With the change at offensive coordinator from Rhett Lashlee to Chip Lindsey and former Baylor QB Jarrett Stidham expected to be named the starting quarterback, both Slayton and Davis could be in for breakout seasons.

Slayton was AU’s No. 2 receiver last season, catching 15 passes for 292 yards and a touchdown. Davis made 12 receptions for 248 yards and two touchdowns. AU’s leading wide receiver last season was senior Tony Stevens (31 catches, 487 yards, 3 TD).
